What does it mean to create a font pairing?

To create a font pairing means to match different fonts together to compliment each other.

What are the four assignments you chose to do? Write the name of the assignment and describe your design for each.

I chose assignments 1,2,3, and 4. Assignment 1 was to create a font pairing for ‘‘what comes easy won’t last’’. I chose to use 2 different colors to compliment each other and unproportional sized words. For the second assignment you had to create a font pairing for ‘’float like a butterfly sting like a bee’’ and use black and white only. So I used a white background and black font, making the first part of the saying in script and the second part of the saying in huge, bold, in a font that makes t look as if it’s really stinging something. The third assignment was to create one for any destination. I chose Prattsville, New York making the town in a vintage font and the state in a bold, thick font and used a background with a tent and snow on the ground. For the last assignment you had to use a famous quote in which I used ‘’take a walk on the wild side’’. I used two different fonts and different sized texts, as well as used a background with a walking path in a forest.

Which assignment would you say is your BEST font pairing and why?

My best font pairing would be assignment 4. This is because I used a really nice complementary background as well as placing the words in a funky position to make it stand out more.

Which assignment would you say is your Least Successful font pairing and why?

My least successful assignment would be assignment 1 because I feel that it doesn’t make as much of a statement and it doesn’t look like much thought was put into it.

How would you describe the font pairing process? What makes a font pairing so difficult?

My font pairing process definitely was easy, I didn’t have too much of a hard time finding fonts to compliment each other. What makes font pairing so difficult is having to really make sure your fonts are complimenting each other and don’t look disproportional.
